Street Entertainers

Street entertainers can enrich and enhance the street scene by bringing their talents to the public who often show their appreciation by making financial contributions.

The Town Council, with the support of Avon and Somerset Constabulary, South Somerset District Council and the Yeovil Chamber of Trade and Commerce, have adopted a Code of Practice, which is designed to ensure that all such entertainment is provided in designated areas to a satisfactory standard, and is performed in a safe and considerate manner having regard to the needs of everyone visiting the Town Centre. The scheme also helps to control unlawful begging.

Permits are available on application to the Town Council, and cost £10 for three years. All applicants need to pass an audition to demonstrate that they have the capability to perform to an acceptable standard and, in the case of playing a musical instrument, a sufficiently wide repertoire to entertain passers-by.
