Sat 11 JulyYEOVILTON AIR DAY
RNAS Yeovilton will be celebrating 100 years of Naval Aviation at their annual Air Day.  The Admiralty placed its first order for a Naval Airship in 1909 which at the time was a radical shift in military thinking that was to lead to the formation of the Royal Naval Air Service, later renamed the Fleet Air Arm. This marked the beginnings of the formidable versatility and capability of Naval Air Power as we know it today.
An extensive flying and static display will take place to mark this significant milestone with rare naval aircraft such as the Swordfish, Sea Fury, Seafire and Sea Vixen, coming together with other vintage aircraft, historic warbirds and classic jets to evoke nostalgic memories of a century of Fleet Air Arm aviation. Their modern counterparts such as the iconic Harrier and resident Lynx and Sea King squadrons will also demonstrate their capabilities currently used extensively around the world.

Sun 25 OctoberGartell Light Railway
John and Christine Gartell, their family and friends look forward to welcoming you to the narrow gauge Gartell Light Railway. Step back in time to a more leisurely age and ride through the beautiful Blackmore Vale countryside along the route of the old Somerset & Dorset Railway. Their delightful half-size trains are operated in exactly the same way as their full-size counterparts, with every train movement governed by an array of semaphore and colour-light signals controlled by the signalman in two signal boxes. It is therefore no exaggeration to say that the Gartell Light Railway is a working museum of traditional railway practice. So come along and see for yourself.
