Tue 08 March - Sat 19 March | YAOS presents: Evita
Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's captivating Evita charts the rags-to-riches rise of the First Lady of Argentina, who won the love of her countrymen after marrying military leader-turned-president Juan Peron. Set in Buenos Aires between 1934-1952, the musical follows Eva Duarte Peron on her journey from fatherless child to ambitious actress to the most powerful woman in Latin America - and, eventually, to a saint-like figure after her death from cancer at the age of 33.
The events inEvita's life are told in song and commented on by the show's narrator, Che. The show had an incredible run in the West End and on Broadway and features well known songs such as, Another Suitcase in Another Hall, Oh What A Circus and Don't Cry For Me Argentina.

Mon 14 March - Sat 19 March 7.30 pm | The Crucible
The Crucible is regarded as a masterpiece and one of the best plays of the 20th Century. It is both a gripping historical play and a timely parable of contemporary society. The story of how small lies - children's lies - build and build until the whole town of Salem is gripped with fear and revenge - still rings painfully true today. A cast of 20 including members of the Swan's Youth Group bring this dramatic and pulsating tale to life. Miss it at your peril….

Sat 30 April | Yeovil Town Criers Competition 2016
Each year in April or May, Town Criers come from far and wide to keep up the ancient tradition of crying and to compete in the annual Yeovil Town Criers' Competition.
The Criers, who are members of the Ancient and Honourable Guild of Town Criers (AHGTC) provide a colourful spectacle by entertaining visitors throughout the day as each competitor performs their home town cry and a cry of their own choice in the Town's Open Air Entertainment Area in Middle Street - in the presence of the Mayor and Mayoress of Yeovil.
In Medieval England, Town Criers were the chief means of news communication with the people of the town since many could not read or write. Royal proclamations, local byelaws, market days and adverts were all proclaimed by a bellman or crier throughout the centuries.
Town Criers often dress elaborately, by a tradition dating to the 18th century, which includes a coloured robe, breeches, black boots and a tricorn hat. They carry a handbell to attract people's attention, as they shout the words "Oyez, Oyez, Oyez!" before making their announcements.
Trophies are presented to the winner and runners up in the competition, and awards are also given for the best dressed Crier and Escort. All competitors are awarded a certificate and presented with a memento of the event.
