Great Somerset Abseil in aid of St. Margaret’s Hospice

26 March 2017

Wincanton Race Course

St. Margaret's Hospice is organising a sponsored abseil.

The entry fee is £25 with a suggested sponsorship total of £75. When booking please specify if you would prefer a slot between 11am - 2pm, or 2pm - 5pm. You will be allocated a time nearer the event. Participants must be over 16 years old and must be taller than 5ft.

Ann Lee, St. Margaret's CEO, has put her money where her mouth is, so to speak, and signed up to be the first facing the drop. A 100ft crane will be situated at the Racecourse with challengers suspended from the top before making their way down to the crowds below.

St. Margaret's cares for over 3,200 people each year with the majority choosing to receive this care at home. Most of us can't imagine the fear that people with a life-limiting illness face, but by enabling them to be cared for where they feel most comfortable, St. Margaret's can at least give them the strength to face the journey ahead of them.

"Facing fear and being scared is exactly why I wanted to sign up for this challenge. 1 in 3 people in Somerset will need the support of St. Margaret's in their lifetime. I want every one of these people, to know that St. Margaret's is there for them and that we will face the fear together, making each day count" says Ann.

Ann has set herself a target of raising £1,000 and will be asking everyone she knows to sponsor her, so be warned! If everyone taking part raised just £75, this would pay for a day of St. Margaret's care across Somerset by St. Margaret's Community Care Team.

If you are interested in challenging yourself while raising money for St. Margaret's visit www.st-margarets-hospice.co.uk and search 'abseil'.
