Reserve Collection Tour

15 September 2016

Fleet Air Arm Museum - Aero Hall

The Fleet Air Arm Museum's Reserve Collection is now larger than many other entire aircraft museums and is housed in a purpose built and climate-controlled building called Cobham Hall. Cobham Hall is now bulging with our precious assortment of all things "naval aviation heritage" as we just keep on adding to it! So much so that sadly we are unable to conduct our regular annual Open Day. There is simply not the space to accommodate all our visitors and enthusiasts all at once. With this in mind, we fully appreciate the interest to still get 'behind the scenes' and as such will be holding a series of dates in 2016 for special guided tours.

The aircraft housed in Cobham Hall are in various stages of preservation, repair or just storage. We have many rare examples that you will not see anywhere else in existence, included the world's oldest surviving aircraft carrier, the Lighter T3 which is on the National Register of Historic Vessels. This sixty feet long streamlined craft was towed behind fast RN destroyers, allowing aircraft to take off at sea during World War 1.

All tours will be £12.00 per person, (£10 for SOFFAAM Members), places are limited and MUST be booked in advance.
