Snowdrop Weekends at Forde Abbey

Throughout February, the 30 acres of award-winning gardens are carpeted in a spectacular display of snowdrops, heralding the start of Spring. It's the perfect time of year to explore the topiary lined views and vistas and enjoy the garden starting to wake up from its Winter hibernation.

The gardens are open daily from 10am – 4pm

Entrance cost throughout February will be £5 for adults and £2.50 for children.

If you are a daredevil supporter you can walk the walk for St Margaret’s Hospice Care at our brand new FIREWALK on Thursday 5th March 2020. This event is proudly sponsored by Walpole Dunn.

Are you brave enough to take on our hottest ever fundraising challenge?

We’ve teamed up with leading experts UK Firewalk to run this exciting event for thrill-seekers in Somerset. You’ll be in safe hands with Scott Bell - two-time Guinness World Record holder for the longest firewalk - who will share the secrets of how to walk on glowing embers.

An exciting evening for all, there will be a barbecue and music on the day, and spectators are welcome to come along and support.

Price: £20.00pp with £100.00 fundraising pledge.

Great Mendip Rugby Walk 2020

Come and join Candlelight Care and St Margaret's Hospice Care for The Great Somerset Rugby Walk.

Walk up an appetite in aid of St Margaret's Hospice Care (pasty and pint at the end!).

Beginning at 1:30 pm (registration at 1:00 pm) on Wells Cathedral Green, this charity walk is open to all. The walk is approximately 6.5 miles long and ends at Tor Rugby Club, and takes between 2.5 and 3 hours to complete.

Entry fee is £25 for adults and £15 for 12-18 year olds which includes a pasty and a pint or soft drink at the end. Under 12's are free!

The Great Somerset Cycle for St Margaret's Hospice Care

The 2020 event offers riders a choice or hospice to hospice and epic routes between sites - rated easy, hard or tough and ranging in distance from 40 to 80 miles.  For more information visit the St. Margarets Hospice website.

You will start and finish at either of our Yeovil or Taunton hospice sites depending on the route you choose - it's up to you! Heron Drive, Taunton TA1 5HA or Little Tarrat Lane, Yeovil BA20 2HU

10th Anniversary edition of Yeovil Half Marathon w
Yeovil Half Marathon

10th Anniversary edition of Yeovil Half Marathon will start and finish in Yeovil Town Centre.

Starting at 9am on closed roads around the town centre before heading along the entire length of Yeovil Country Park. The route then leaves the town on the western side to Montacute House, before returning on quiet country roads to the Town Centre finish in the Quedam Shopping Centre.

A big Yeovil Town Centre finish atmosphere is assured.

Choose your distance and get sponsored to run, cycle or swim for Wessex Cancer Trust this May!

Whether you choose to tackle 5km or 500km, it’s all about getting active and moving more in May. It’s completely up to you how you decide to move it! So whether you’re a dancing queen or tai chi makes you happy, there are loads of ways to get moving and raise money for local families affected by cancer.

Raising just £100 could pay for a month’s supply of the products needed to provide the complementary therapies that we offer in our Cancer Support Centres. Raising £400 could fund a 10 session one to one support package, tailored to the individual, to help manage the emotional impact of cancer.

This event takes place each May day bank holiday weekend. Situated on the A37 just south of Yeovil towards Dorchester, over looking the rolling hills of Dorset. It features something for everyone. From Traction Engines to Motorcycles it's all at this fun family day out.

With over 100 trade stands you can get everything from a spark plug for the old car in your garage to that old 16 ton commercial vehicle you wanted to restore.

During the day a full entertainment program is available with ring events, live bands and singers in the refreshment marquee. In the evening the fun continues in the marquee and the fairground stays open until late. Enter the site and take a look around at some of the fun that will happen at this event.

Sherborne Castle Country Fair

Sherborne Castle Country Fair is a one-day rural event held in the grounds of Sherborne Castle. 

This family day out is held to raise funds for local children’s charities and youth organisations.  It is a traditional country fair with displays and attractions, trade and craft stands and a rare and native breed animal show.  The 2020 date is Bank Holiday Monday 25th May.

Tickets on the day cost: adult £12.50, child (5-16) £4.00, family* £30.00.  Under 5's free.  *Admits 2 adults and 3 fee-paying children.

The Royal Navy International Air Day

RNAS Yeovilton, the spiritual home of the Royal Navy’s Fleet Air Arm, will open their gates to 40,000 visitors to enjoy the spectacular five hour flying display. The focus will very much be on saluting the past, showcasing the present whilst offering a glimpse into the future of Maritime Aviation Capability along with the capabilities of our sister services the Army and Royal Air Force, as core themes.

With 2020 being the 75th anniversary year of VE and VJ Days, RNIAD will be a marvellous opportunity for nations to come together in commemoration of the end of WW2, reinforcing that international cooperation continues to be vital to us all.

There will be a huge array of educational ground attractions from interactive Service displays to engineering fairs and state-of-the-art defence technology exhibitions. Families will also be able to enjoy trade stalls, arena displays, helicopter pleasure flights, simulators and fairground rides.
