Sun 22 May - Sun 11 SeptemberMartin Creed at Hauser & Wirth

You find yourself here in this world with feelings and thoughts. It’s difficult to accept what you find you do. But if you can it seems to help.’
– Martin Creed

The exhibition will have everything in it: it will present a new body of work that includes paintings, films, drawings, sculpture, music, spoken word and performance, many of which will be created in-situ throughout the five gallery spaces. Creed’s all-encompassing approach blurs the distinction between art and life, the introspective and the extrovert.

Last Night of the Proms Concertwill

Yeovil Rotary Club's now well-established spectacular Last Night of the Proms charity concert returns to The Octagon Theatre for a seventh consecutive season and is a 'must-see' event with early booking advisable.

The 2016 concert will again be performed by the much acclaimed and highly celebrated 32-piece British Philharmonic Concert Orchestra with Timothy Burke conducting. As usual, excellent professional support is to be provided by nationally and internationally renowned soloists and the masterful skills and humour of the concert's much-admired and enjoyed presenter, Mr Mark Langley.

A programme of easily recognised music will include popular classics, light orchestral pieces and music scores from film, TV and stage before, of course, the traditional big finale, complete with audience participation, singing, pomp, flag waving and joyous celebration of Hope and Glory.

The two principal beneficiaries for this year's concert are The Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance and St Margaret's Hospice.

Sun 11 SeptemberIRONMAN

Two events combine on England’s south coast, traversing a stunning run course in Weymouth and a spectacular bike course through the Dorset countryside.
This new IRONMAN event will run in conjunction with IRONMAN 70.3 Weymouth, bringing thousands of athletes to England's South Coast in early September for the ultimately one-day test of endurance.

The swim will take place in Weymouth Bay, with the stunning backdrop of the Jurassic Coastline. The bike course will offer speed, hills, and the charm of the Dorset countryside. The multi-lap run will take athletes around the town, harbour and the historic Weymouth seafront, where sailing competitions took place during the 2012 Olympic Games.

This event will offer 30 slots to the 2017 IRONMAN World Championship, Kailua-Kona, Hawai`i. Age group awards will be based on our traditional age group categories; for the purpose of Kona slot allocation we will blend the oldest age groups into a 55+ category for each gender.

Reserve Collection Tour

The Fleet Air Arm Museum's Reserve Collection is now larger than many other entire aircraft museums and is housed in a purpose built and climate-controlled building called Cobham Hall. Cobham Hall is now bulging with our precious assortment of all things "naval aviation heritage" as we just keep on adding to it! So much so that sadly we are unable to conduct our regular annual Open Day. There is simply not the space to accommodate all our visitors and enthusiasts all at once. With this in mind, we fully appreciate the interest to still get 'behind the scenes' and as such will be holding a series of dates in 2016 for special guided tours.

The aircraft housed in Cobham Hall are in various stages of preservation, repair or just storage. We have many rare examples that you will not see anywhere else in existence, included the world's oldest surviving aircraft carrier, the Lighter T3 which is on the National Register of Historic Vessels. This sixty feet long streamlined craft was towed behind fast RN destroyers, allowing aircraft to take off at sea during World War 1.

All tours will be £12.00 per person, (£10 for SOFFAAM Members), places are limited and MUST be booked in advance.
