Established in 1973 as Acorn Records in small premises in Princes Street, we moved to our current site in Glovers Walk in 1975 and have been trading there ever since. To celebrate our silver anniversary in 1998 the shop was extensively refitted to provide a brighter and more welcoming atmosphere for our customers. The refit has enabled us to offer a much broader choice of music and we now have one of the widest selections in the South West.

We think that we have something for everyone, whatever your taste or interest. We have always been renowned for our comprehensive range of pop, rock, hip-hop, reggae and dance music, but we now also offer a huge choice of classical, jazz, folk, blues and country music.

Our prices are as competitive as ever and there are always special offers throughout the store including hundreds of the finest back catalogue albums at £7.99 or 3 for £22.00 and masses of budget CDs at £3.99 or 3 for £10.00.

We still stock loads of vinyl, both albums and 12" singles and always have the latest drum & bass, hip-hop and house releases.

In the store there are three listening posts - the EMI SoundSite, the Pinnacle Selecta and the Universal post - as well as facilities for you to check out any item before purchasing.

We are members of the Chain With No Name, The Network and The Knowledge, all of which encompass the country's leading independent record stores.
