Somerset Libraries are Upgrading their public access to computers and software.
23 May 2014
On May 28th we start a programme to replace all public access PCs in our 34 public libraries across the County. The new equipment will carry an updated range of software including Windows 7 and Microsoft Office 2013 (Academic version).
We will be starting at Taunton Library where the computers will be swapped out on 28th May. This will be followed by a phased roll out to all other libraries during June and July.
If you are planning to use a library computer during this period please note that ALL Public Library computers across the County will be unavailable for one day only on 28th May to allow some major background technical work to be carried out.
As there may be some disruption during this period, we are temporarily suspending charges for computer use from 29th May until the project is complete in July 2014. There will be no changes to printing charges.
We are very sorry if this causes you any inconvenience but we hope you agree that this long awaited improvement will provide an invaluable resource for adults and children across Somerset.
Further details will be available soon at www.somerset.gov.uk/computersinlibraries.
